‘The field provides both for an expanded but finite set of related positions for a given artist to occupy and explore, and for an organization of work that is not dictated by the conditions of a particular medium.’ Joseph Beuys, ‘I am searching for a field character’ in Charles Harrison and Paul Wood (eds) Art in Theory 1900-1990: An Anthology of Changing Ideas (Oxford: Blackwell, 1992) p. 903.

Established in autumn 2008, Original Field (of Architecture Ltd) or OFA, is a collaborative studio founded on the cross-fertilisation of architectural practice, teaching and research. We have an overriding conviction to produce works which are engaging to experience, sensitive to the landscape and original. We are committed to an open form of practice involving a variety of processes and the interaction of clients, consultants, artists, trades and specialists craftsmen. Rather than pursue a single architectural cannon Original Field specialise in project specific outcomes that exceed expectations.

In following a rigorous architectural process we ensure the best possible outcomes are realised in accordance with briefs, budgets and programmes. In offering the highest level of service, our relationships with clients become well established ensuring the majority of our projects are from repeat clients.
