York Road, Oxford
Andrew Dawson, Paul Southouse, Daniel Kealty, and Francesco Miniati
A speculative development in suburban Oxford, the project is defined as a coupling or twin houses on a triangular site. Similar but not the same, two compact 4 bedroom houses are symmetrical at a large scale but asymmetrical in the detail and materials. The orientation of each house also responds to its setting, the street and the site in order to maximise outlook and best use the available space. As partners the houses are sited relative to each other so as to provide opportunities for outlook without overlooking each other or towards adjacent properties. The orientation also emphasises the pairing as they turn towards each other.
