Cross Street, Oxford
New residential building, 2009

The proposal provides two self-contained flats over 2 storeys plus roof space. The front elevation, to Rectory Road, is designed to adjoin and complete the terraced row. Architectural language and materials for this element are replicated from the existing terrace. Brick detailing mimics the upper floor openings along the terrace.

The side elevation to Cross Street offers a more contemporary language, providing a negotiation with the adjacent buildings. To the rear the brickwork wraps around the enclosed balcony and then is set back further so as to respond to the neighbouring dwelling no.12 Rectory Road.
