Bertie Road, Cumnnor
New Residence (2014)

A rare opportunity to create a new detached dwelling within an existing built up area. The proposed building form is for a modest house that runs parallel to road frontage.  A traditional pitched roof with hipped ends mimics the surrounding houses and is very much in keeping with the established suburban model. The mass and scale of the proposed dwelling is consistent with the existing pattern of development although conversely it is a house that will be remarkable rather than mundane. Plain clay roof tiles clad the roof and external walls to create a singular mass.

The rooms were refurbished to a meticulous level of detail and finish, resulting in sophisticated utilitarian chic interiors. The project represents a continuation of the college’s commitment to preserving their buildings and enhancing the level of student accommodation.
