Sessay Cricket Pavilion
Design competition (2015)

“The Hill” is one of the most enjoyable locations from which to watch cricket. Grass embankments and steady inclines allow the spectator to view games from an enviable elevated position. To reflect Sessay’s site and surrounding hills and in order to blend landscape with building, this design proposes a sweeping pinwheel shaped landform pavilion between two cricket pitches and a bowling green.

A pavilion is defined as a freestanding structure connected with pleasure and relaxation gained through its intended use. The proposed pavilion includes three radial wings: a community hall; bowls clubroom; and cricket clubroom with change rooms. Communal and shared facilities including bar, kitchen and meeting room are centrally located in the pinwheel plan to provide increased flexibility for multiple operational scenarios and access.
