In a continuation of University College’s desire to address accessibility throughout their buildings; the college asked Original Field to explore the possibility of making all ground floor spaces off Main Quad accessible to wheelchair users. This involved a detailed options study and impact assessment. The result is a combination of landscape and hard surface treatment that creates a carefully balanced proposal providing the desired access without detracting from the highest quality Grade 1 setting.
Planning and listed building consent was granted in May 2020 and the project was carried out over summer 2020.
