Badswell Lane
Residential Extension (2014)

The project involved the extension of a small suburban house in a country village. The conventional suburban appearance of the house is offset against the client’s display of colour on the interior. The attraction to vibrant colours and apparent separation between outside and inside is the point of reference for the presentation of the new extension to the rear.

A traditional and predictable gable end extrusion is carved up with an array of colour splashes thereby extracting the expression from within. The original plan of rooms being separated according to function is challenged by opening up spaces in accordance with the requirement for more flexible living spaces.
