After refurbishing the dining hall, Original Field were invited to design an exhibition that celebrates the diverse Keble community and commemorates 40 years of co-education as well as the beginning of the college’s 150th anniversary. Photographer Farn Monks was commissioned to take portraits which were then carefully chosen and suspended above the tables.
The historic integrity of the hall was preserved using theatre technology rigging support that remains “invisible” and enhances the floating effect of the portraits. The goal is to complement the traditional portraits on the walls while also providing an engaging dining experience. The selected portrait subjects represent different genders, ethnicities, disabilities, socio-economic backgrounds, and the LGBTQ+ communities across the college.
