St Edmund Hall - Old Dining Hall, Oxford
Lighting Design

The new lighting design for the Old Dining Hall enhances its spatial qualities while providing appropriate illumination for tables and oil paintings. The scheme aligns with the updated furniture layout and colour palette, ensuring consistent light distribution. A uniform wash illuminates the north wall, showcasing the oil paintings while allowing flexibility for future rearrangements. The high table receives brighter lighting to highlight the timber cladding and support events such as lectures or meetings.

In the courtyard, soft lighting creates a theatrical backdrop, fading from eaves to ground, while existing lanterns remain prominent. The Chapel façade is brighter to emphasise its significance, and accent lights highlight the well. The design reuses existing power points with minimal system adjustments.
