York Road, Oxford
Residential (2013)

A speculative development in suburban Oxford, the project is defined as a coupling or twin houses on a triangular site. Similar but not the same, two compact 4-bedroom houses are symmetrical at the large scale but asymmetrical in the detail and materials. The orientation of each house also responds to its setting of the street and the site in order to maximise outlook and best use the available space.

As partners the houses are sited relative to each other to provide opportunities for views without overlooking each other or towards adjacent properties. The orientation also emphasises the pairing as they turn towards and embrace each other.
